Lisa is the dreamer behind SoulShine Yoga. She has been an elementary school teacher for 16+ years, and has always had a passion for working with and serving people of all ages.
Lisa fell in love with yoga after trying it for the first time fresh out of high school, and she has enjoyed exploring the practice ever since...about 20 years now! Lisa has her RYT200, Aerial Yoga, PiYo, and Buti Yoga certifications. Her passion is heated, intense classes, such as Heated Vinyasa and Buti Yoga, as she loves offering her students the opportunity to free themselves through their own breath and movement.
Since opening the doors to SoulShine in 2016, Lisa has partnered with Erin Wade. Erin and Lisa dream of making SoulShine a space where everyone feels welcome, loved, and at home.
Erin has been a lover of yoga, mindfulness and meditation for a number of years. She recently partnered with Lisa, as co-owner of SoulShine Yoga, and is so proud to be a part of the SoulShine Tribe! Erin holds a degree in Alternative Health Sciences and studied Healthcare Administration at Eastern Michigan Univertsity. She is a 200 RYT instructor, as well as a certified Barre instructor, with a passion for teaching. Her main yoga focus is "Chakra Hatha", in which a specific chakra is balanced in each class.
Due to her own profound yoga training experience, Erin believes that yoga, and its teachings, can change people in a tremendously positive way. Her goal is to use yoga, mindfulness and meditation teachings to help others experience the love, joy, and SOUL that she has come to know through SoulShine!
Steve started his yoga journey as a student in 2008. What originally started as looking for other options to stay in shape, Steve soon started attending classes weekly and found that yoga was the answer.
With a desire to continue his growth, Steve began his journey towards understanding the history of yoga, as well as the mystical side of the practice. Steve attended the Temple of Kriya yoga and became a certified yoga instructor in May of 2014.
Steve's teaching style is based on B.K.S. Iyengar and instructor Kim Swartz. The movements are slow and precise, and concentrate on alignment. The goal is to become aware of the breath and strive to find the peace within each pose.
Steve is married to Carie and has three children, Shay, Kyle, and Logan.
It is Steve's passion and joy to share the experience and benefits of yoga with you!
Lauren just recently graduated from SoulShine’s YTT program and is a Yoga Alliance certified 200 RYT instructor. Her passion and love in life is to help others use their own personal practice to reawaken and shine their inner truth. Lauren teaches a variety of yoga styles always with an emphasis on fun, freedom, and peace.
Tanya has been teaching yoga since 2008. Both fitness and health have always been a focus in her life. She was a personal trainer for several years, but as she says, when she found yoga, she found home. The physicality of the practice and the calming of the mind while practicing immediately made sense to her.
Tanya's teaching style asks you to discover your courage; we don’t create courage, it is already there, we just uncover it, stretch our courage muscles and watch ourselves grow! For some that means attempting an inversion or the courage to be creative in your Vinyasa flow, and for others it means becoming okay in stillness. How we feel when we hit the pause button can take courage!
Tanya is passionate, because in her experience it is when we become brave in our choices that the world opens to us. She flexes her bravery muscles while rock and ice climbing, playing upside down on aerial silks and traveling to foreign places.
Tanya has two boys that are 13 and 19.
A favorite quote: “When I do something I never thought I could, it makes me wonder what else I can do.”
Stacy's passion for spiritual development led her down many different pathways, eventually dropping her off at the door of a yoga studio. Her love for the practice was instantaneous. Even she could not have imagined how intensely that passion would grow. She became a certified yoga instructor in 2015 to spread her joy of yoga with others.
For Stacy, yoga is much more than a physical practice. It is coming home. It is the place you go to find the light within...the true essence of you...so you can lead your life from that place of integrity.
Stacy's teaching style will encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone whether that means expanding your practice by trying new postures or slowing your flow down as you move into stillness. She believes we each have our own perfect practice that will help us find quiet peace deep within and allow it to flourish.
Stacy's experience has taught her how important it is to nurture your soul, accept times of discomfort, and recognize that sometimes, the pathway to a better life is only through taking risks and changing how we discover our own strength, stability, and grace. For her, the best place to begin that journey is on a yoga mat.
Yoga found Kjersti in 2009. At the time she was in school pursuing a degree in the field of Physical Therapy. Everything she was learning in books and seminars came alive in yoga class that day. “It felt like a light had been turned on. Inside,” She recalls. Since that class she has studied a myriad of modern and traditional healing arts and sciences. She finished her degree and now works as a licensed Phyiscal Therapist Assistant specializing in manual modalities, orthopedic medicine, women’s health and psychosomatic modalities. In 2014, Kjersti finished her Yoga Teacher Training and became a certified YA ERYT-200 in the summer of 2017. She is also a Reiki Master, Practioner of Aroma Touch Techniqe and Bowen Therapy, a Shamanic Coach and Lead Teacher in the SoulShine YTT program!
In her personal life yoga has been a medicine path. The root of the word medicine means “to know”. Her favorite definition of yoga means “to learn something you didn’t know before”. Before yoga, she suffered from anxiety, depression, sciatica, chronic pain and worst was the feeling of having no purpose, no connection. Overall she wanted to be better as a person, and in her contribution to the communities around her and the planet, but she wasn’t sure how. The teachings of Yoga became her medicine and her purpose. Peace. Breath. Movement. The traditional practice of Yoga is so much more than asana (poses). It is a practice of balance; love, truth and peace. “Yoga saved me from the belief that if I wasn’t perfect, I wasn’t worthy. It asked me to show up as I am, hot mess, numb, calm- didn’t matter. Just show up, and breathe.” Kjersti aspires to help her students to find their own expression and connection through the practice of yoga. Her classes are therapeutic in nature and are taught organically to balance the physical and energetic bodies of those who show up that day.
Kjersti is a born and raised Michigander, co-parent to a blended family of four littles with the love of her life, avid kayaker (who recently began running again), hiker, theologian, lover of books, music, life, nature and the cosmos! (And of course Yoga!)
